Quality Grinders are Key

The flat burrs on an espresso grinder ensure the consistency to the grind needed to extract the espresso shot correctly. At Espresso Macchina the two types of home espresso grinders carried are the step and the stepless grinders. Both use flat burrs and a large motor that spins at a slower speed with more torque. The result is a perfectly consistant grind each use.

Traditional Espresso Machines

Espresso Macchina carries three tyes of traditional espresso machines: the single boiler/injection tube; the heat exchanger; and the dual boiler. Commercial settings will require either the heater exchanger or dual boiler designs while all three designs are options for home use.

Which Is Right For Me?

The greatest benefit for single boiler/injection tube designs used in home settings is that it allows a good quality espresso to be extracted at a lower price point. The downfall is that to go from steam mode to coffee mode, the unit needs to cool or water needs to be run through the steam wand so that the temperature of the water is lowered for espresso extraction.

Because of the way heat exchangers are designed, they make great single group machines when you’re pressed for space. A barista can work on them to pull a shot and steam at the same time, and they can be used with very little recovery time.

On the flip-side, a dual boiler machine is great for the high volume cafe. A two group, dual boiler machine can effectively double your capacity. They are also more precise than heat exchangers because of the dedicated boiler. Finally, if the brew boiler fails for whatever reason, you still have a boiler for steaming, or vice versa.
